It will be replaced with an ONT (optical network terminal) which converts fiber (light) signals to something (electrical) that flows to copper wires. Since you have AT&T Internet 50 Mbps available you are right in the middle of the AT&T Internet offering. You have FTTN which is Fiber to a local box in your neighborhood (VRAD). From there it is all copper with a max speed of 100 Mbps if close to the VRAD (serving terminal).
